Experience 3 Hours of Incredible rafting amongst spectacular scenery The Rangitata River is one of the closest commercially rafted rivers to Christchurch and is undoubtedly one of New Zealand's most exciting stretches of white water. You can experience Grade 5 rapids (the most exciting commercially rafted) at all water levels. Fed by the enormous catchment of the upper Rangitata basin, this massive volume of water winds its way down the valley. In the initial stages you receive a full safety brief and training from your professional guide. By the time you reach the rip-roaring Grade 5 section where the gorge narrows to a pinch, you're fully prepared and ready for action. But there's more - an opional jump off a ten metre cliff.
